UPCOMING EVENTS
DAILY ORAL LANGUAGE
There will be a DLR activity everyday. Every Monday, the DLR will be notes on a specific language skill. This skill will be practiced on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday that week by copying and correcting three to five sentences each day. Every other Friday, there will be a DLR quiz over the previous two weeks of notes and practice. If a student is absent, it is his or her responsibility to get the DLR rom another student, the absent crate in my room, or this website.

VOCABULARY
ENGLISH— Vocabulary words are pulled directly from the CFA topics we will study and the stories we will read. You will receive the vocabulary terms with definitions for two weeks on the first Monday of each cycle. Vocabulary quizzes will cover both lists and be held every other Friday. Completing the vocabulary chart is extra credit. These are due the day of the quiz.
HONORS ENGLISH— Word Within the Word will be used from vocabulary study in honors English. Students are responsible for studying one new list each week in addition to reviewing all past eighth grade stems. Each WWW quiz will cover the two new lists and review words from all previous lists. These quizzes will be held every other Friday. Thee students are also required to complete the Divide & Conquer word study for their assigned words which is due on the day of the quiz. Flash cards for each list are extra credit and also due the day of the quiz.

COMMON FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS
Our school corporation utilizes in a Common Formative Assessment (CFA) program. Each nine weeks grading period will be centered around a specific set of standards. The assessments are multiple-choice tests designed to test the students' understanding of the focus standards. This program is intended to enable the teachers to determine the level of comprehension the students are reaching for each key standard and hopefully better prepare the students for ISTEP and their future academic career. Writing prompts will be used to practice writing, but it will not be part of the CFA.
***Per corporation expectation, no CFA will be read to any student.
